The Last Thing You Say
So love is this: a three-inch blade
You pulled it from my lips
And my knees gave way
First, nothing came to mind
I have steadied Father Time to watch your face
I could not feel a thing; my ears began to ring
And the seconds dripped away
I don’t think I can move
I am spread eagle on the floor
I’m slightly confused
But the blood is so soft and warm
Your face, in a frame of dimness, shrinking,
But I smile because I loved you without even thinking
Sounds like I’m plugging my ears, so hard I want to hear
The last things you say just incase it’s something all about me
I hear you through the sound of my heart leaking
Whatever you do, it will make me happy
Things seem to be falling down
My hands are shaking
I watch you muse about
The wound you gave me
I took it like a kiss, now you’re staring down at this
The choice you’ve made
I cannot feel a thing; my ears have started ringing
I drip away
I don’t think I can move
I am spread eagle on the floor
I am slightly confused
But the blood is so soft and warm
Your face, in the frame of dimness, fading
I smile because I loved you without even thinking
I forget how to breathe
I don’t make a sound; I want to hear
The last things you say just in case it’s something all about me
I hear you through the sound of my heart breaking
But whatever you do, it will make me happy
I don’t think I can move
I am spread eagle on the floor
I am slightly confused
But the blood is so soft and warm
Your face, in the frame of dimness, weakens
I smile because I loved you without even thinking
The last I can see
I don’t make a sound, I want to hear
The last things you say just in case it’s something all about me
I hear you through the sound of my heart breaking
But whatever you do, it will make me happy
I don’t think I can move
I am spread eagle on the floor
I am slightly confused
But the blood is so soft and warm
The last I can see
I don’t make a sound; I want to hear
The last things you say, just in case it’s something all about me
I hear you through the sound of my heart breaking
But whatever you do
It will make me happy
