Next to You (A Nuclear Love Song)

Is that snow?

I don't think so.

But we'll tell the kids it is,

and let them play in it,

soft and brittle ashes from the neighborhood.

And through the window,

you can view the light show.

It's nothing like I've ever seen,

too amazed to do anything,

even tell the kids to come inside.

You know, I've never been to Barcelona.

I never learned to speak the language.

Many, many years ago, when you won me over,

we never made time for this.

But, now I want to be next to you.

I'll hold you close as our bodies fuse.

The melting world just slips away.

Our eyes turn up as we turn cold and grey,

and then we are blown away.

So that's a shock wave?

It pulls us under.

It pulls us back together,

there is only time to grab your hand,

only time to squeeze and hold it tighter.

You know, I never swam the Rio Grande.

I never had a chance to learn the violin.

Many, many years ago when you won me over,

we had bigger dreams than this.

But here I am, next to you.

I'll hold you tight as our bodies fuse.

The melting world just slips away.

The last thing I'll feel is in love with you.

All I want is to be next to you.

I'll hold you close as our bodies fuse.

The melting world just slips away.

Our eyes turn up and we turn cold and grey.

and then, we are blown away.
